This liberalization is expected to facilitate the import of these critical precious metals used in various industrial and technological applications, including electronics, automotive catalysts, and specialized equipment.

However, the DGFT has also clarified that if these alloys contain more than 1% by weight of gold, such imports will fall under the “Restricted” category. Importers will therefore need to ensure compliance with this gold content threshold to avail of the benefits of the “Free” import status.
The Import Policy of the following ITC(HS) codes is amended as under:
