The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued Public Notice No. 14/2025-26 dated 8 July 2025, notifying three new Standard Input Output Norms (SIONs) for products under the ‘Chemical and Allied Product’ group (Product Code ‘A’) under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023.
Under this public notice, three new SIONs have been fixed:
SION A-3687 (Pharma):
- Export Product: Azithromycin Dihydrate (1 kg)
- Allowed Import: Azithromycin Amine – 0.9434 kg

SION A-3688 (Chemical):
- Export Product: Aldehyde C10 (Capric Aldehyde) (1 kg)
- Allowed Import: Fatty Alcohol C10 (98% purity) – 1.40 kg
SION A-3689 (Pharma):
- Export Product: Ceftazidime Powder (1000 mg unit for IM/IV solution)
- Allowed Import: Ceftazidime for Injection Bulk Sterile – 1280 mg

These new norms will allow exporters to import the specified quantities of raw materials duty-free, provided the corresponding export obligations are fulfilled, reducing input costs and increasing global competitiveness.
The public notice has come into immediate effect, and exporters can now proceed to apply for Advance Authorizations using these new SIONs for their export consignments.
These updates are important because SIONs define how much quantity of specific inputs that can be imported duty-free under the Advance Authorization schemes against the manufacture of a specified export product. This mechanism reduces ambiguity for exporters and simplifies and speeds up the processing of Advance Authorization licenses.
