The Directorate ofEnforcement (ED), Chandigarh Zonal Office has conducted midnight searches on illegal call centres operating across Chandigarh Tricity for duping foreign customers by posing as tech support representatives of international brands such as Microsoft and HP. The raids were carried out on 24 July 2025 under the anti-money laundering and fraud investigation drive undertaken by the agency.
Investigations revealed that these scam companies would open overseas counterpart firms to receive fraudulent payments through payment gateways that were later remitted to India via banking channels as well as hawala routes. While their websites claimed to provide software support services such as web designing and fixed wireless internet, the sites had no promoter or team member details and the entire operations were run clandestinely.

Investigations revealed that the employees at these centres, pretending to be tech support, were found lacking even basic software or Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) skills.
FSAL Technologies Pvt Ltd was found operating a fake call centre by creating an overseas entity, Bios Tech based in the USA which claimed to provide tech support for Microsoft products, HP printers, routers and other hardware. The Director of FSAL Technologies, Faisal Rashid Peerzada, failed to provide any agreement or certificate from Microsoft, HP or Arlo granting them the rights to offer tech support on behalf of the tech giants.
FSAL controlled Bios Tech’s backend website and monitored customer payments directly. Another related entity, Bios Webtech was operated by Arshdeep, a friend of FSAL Director Faisal Peerzada.

Call transcripts seized during searches confirmed their tech fraud practices. Additionally, the FSAL Technologies website IP was found hosting geeksworldwidesolutions.com, spoofing Geek Squad, a renowned US tech firm without any legal authorisation.
Another accused, Sahu Jain was found operating companies named Terrasparq and Visionaire, running similar tech frauds since 2016. Terrasparq claimed to support CTS Mobility, owned by Jain’s sister Priya, despite lacking legal agreements. Jain’s emails and WhatsApp chats revealed creation and use of fake Microsoft popup call links and periodic fraudulent payments by misusing foreign customers’ credit cards in the guise of tech support services.

Indian scam call centres such as these have proliferated in recent years, severely denting India’s global reputation. Many western customers ridicule these scams for their poorly mimicked accents and unconvincing attempts to sound like authentic US-based support staff while impersonating employees of international conglomerates, even spawning various memes along the way.
Further investigation by the ED is underway.
