After the Union Budget 2026-27 is presented, Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman will meet around 30 college students from across India.

The Union Budget will be presented by the Finance Minister on February 1, 2026, in the Lok Sabha. It is one of the most important days of the year, where government tells about its plans for economy, growth, jobs, welfare schemes and development. Members of Parliament will listen to the Budget speech and later discuss it in both Houses.

Before the Budget, the Economic Survey 2025–26 was tabled in Parliament. The Economic Survey gives a picture of the country’s economic condition. It talks about growth rate, inflation, employment, industry, agriculture and challenges faced by the economy. The Survey also gives suggestions and ideas which help in making the Budget.

On Budget day, the selected students will get a special chance to watch the live Budget presentation from the Lok Sabha Gallery. This will allow them to see closely how Parliament functions during such an important event.

Students are coming from different States and study in different fields like commerce, economics, medical education and vocational courses.

During visit, the students will also go to Ministry of Finance at Kartavya Bhawan-1. They will meet senior officers and learn how the Ministry works, how policies are made and how institutions help in nation building.

In the evening, Smt. Sitharaman will talk with the students about the main points of the Budget, its plan for India’s future and how it affects the youth. Students will also share their thoughts, ideas and dreams for the country.

The programme aims to increase awareness among students about finance, economics, governance and democratic process. It also encourages young people to take part in India’s financial and Parliamentary system.

During the making of Union Budget 2026–27, views were taken from citizens including youth through many platforms, and these ideas may be seen in the Budget.
