The Ministry of Finance has appointed Solomon Arokiaraj, Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), as an ex-officio Member of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA).
Arokiaraj is a 2000-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre and has led a diverse career consisting of senior roles in different departments of the central government, including positions as Additional Secretary in the DEA.

Before his central deputation in late 2022, Arokiaraj was a key figure in the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office under Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Known among colleagues for his quiet efficiency and sharp administrative instincts, he handled responsibilities across departments ranging from food and civil supplies to education, panchayat raj, mines and geology, IT and welfare departments.
Arokiaraj has also served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs after being empanelled for central deputation in late 2022.
Known for his efficient and low-profile style of functioning, Arokiaraj oversaw critical portfolios including food and civil supplies, education, panchayat raj, mines and geology, IT and welfare departments.
In his new role at the IFSCA, Arokiaraj is expected to bring his administrative acumen and experience in the financial sector to strengthen IFSCA’s role in developing India’s international financial hubs.

Headquartered at GIFT City in Gujarat, the IFSCA functions as the unified regulator for financial products, financial services and financial institutions in India’s International Financial Services Centres. The IFSCA is tasked with improving India’s global market participation, promoting ease of doing business and to ensure a robust regulatory environment for entities operating within IFSCs.
The appointment was notified through S.O. 3625(E) dated August 5, 2025 and nominates Arokiaraj under the powers conferred by Section 5(1)(c) of the IFSCA Act, 2019. The notification was signed by Economic Adviser Aparna Bhatia on behalf of the Ministry of Finance.
