The Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, issued Vacancy Circular No. A-12026/1/2025-Ad.IC (DR) dated 14 August 2025, inviting applications for filling up various posts in the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) on a deputation basis.

The circular has been sent to all Central Government ministries, State Governments, Union Territories, and tribunals to nominate eligible officers.

According to the circular, the deputation will initially be for a period of three years, which may be extended depending on administrative requirements. According to Annexure I (pages 4–14), the circular lists several posts with eligibility criteria, pay levels, and method of appointment. Some examples include:

  • Financial Advisor (Level 13, Rs. 123100-215900) - 1 post
  • Joint Registrar (Level 12, Rs. 78800-209200) - 2 posts
  • Deputy Registrar (Level 11, Rs. 67700-208700) - 9 posts
  • Principal Private Secretary - 11 posts
  • Assistant Registrar - 2 posts
  • Senior Private Secretary - 19 posts
  • AccountsOfficer - 22 posts
  • Court Officer - 39 posts
  • Private Secretary - 24 posts
  • Legal Assistant - 116 posts
  • Senior Accountant - 22 posts
  • Stenographer Grade I - 68 posts
  • Assistant, GSTAT - 20 posts
  • Upper Division Clerk - 33 posts

Eligibility Conditions

  • Most posts are to be filled on deputation, meaning applicants must already hold analogous posts in their current cadre or department.
  • Required experience ranges from 2 to 10 years depending on the post.
  • For higher posts (Financial Advisor, Joint Registrar), applicants must be in the appropriate Pay Matrix levels with specific years of service.
  • For technical posts like Legal Assistant or Accounts Officer, degrees in Law, Commerce, or related fields plus relevant experience are essential.

Application Process:

  • Applications must be sent through the officer’s Cadre Controlling Authority.
  • Each application must include:
  • Vigilance clearance
  • Integrity certificate
  • Attested copies of ACRs/APARs of the last 5 years
  • A standard application form is attached in Annexure II, requiring details of:
  • Service history
  • Educational qualifications
  • Present posting

Posting Flexibility: Selected officers may be assigned to any GSTAT bench across the country based on vacancy and requirement.
