The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), under the Ministry of Finance, issued Notification No. 65/2025-Customs (N.T.) dated October 15, 2025, revising the tariff values for imported goods such as edible oils, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts. The revised rates will come into effect from October 16, 2025.
In comparison, the previous Notification No. 64/2025-Customs (N.T.) dated October 9, 2025, had kept the tariff values largely unchanged from earlier revisions. The latest update introduces an upward revision in tariff values across all major edible oils, including Crude Palm Oil, RBD Palm Oil, Other Palm Oils, Crude Palmolein, RBD Palmolein, Other Palmolein, and Crude Soybean Oil.
This increase reflects firming global market trends and a consistent rise in international edible oil prices. The tariff value for Brass Scrap (all grades) has also been raised moderately, aligning with the upward movement in non-ferrous metal prices.
A huge hike has been recorded in the tariff values of gold and silver, with gold rising from USD 1300 to USD 1327 per 10 grams and silver from USD 1515 to USD 1663 per kilogram, mirroring strengthening global bullion rates.
