The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs ( CBIC ), under the Ministry of Finance, issued Notification No. 72/2025-Customs (N.T.) dated October 31, 2025, revising the tariff values of key imported goods such as edible oils, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts.
The revised rates take effect from November 1, 2025, under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962.
Compared to the earlier Notification No. 65/2025-Customs (N.T.) dated October 15, 2025, which had sharply increased tariff values, the latest update introduces slight reductions in most edible oils and precious metals in response to softening global prices. The tariff value for crude palm oil is now USD 1113 per metric tonne, and RBD palm oil stands at USD 1142, while crude soybean oil remains unchanged at USD 1187.
In the bullion segment, gold has been reduced to USD 1285 per 10 grams and silver to USD 1556 per kilogram, reflecting cooling international prices. The tariff value for brass scrap has been increased to USD 6096 per metric tonne, while areca nuts remain steady at USD 7142 per metric tonne.
