Former ICAI President Padma Shri T.N. Manoharan Passes Away

Padma Shri T.N. Manoharan, revered chartered accountant and former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), passed away today in Mumbai, leaving behind a legacy of outstanding contributions to Indian corporate governance and the CA profession.
T. N. Manoharan hails from Rajakoil village near Gudiyatham, born to a freedom fighter and agriculturist T.L.Narayanasamy Chowdhry and Saradammal. He is a post graduate in commerce from Sri Venkateswara University and a Chartered Accountant of four decades of standing. He is also a law graduate from Madras Law College. He has authored books for professionals and students on Taxation.

Manoharan was widely recognized for his instrumental role in the government-nominated board tasked with the extraordinary turnaround and revival of Satyam Computer Services after the company's infamous fraud scandal. His expertise, leadership, and ethical commitment helped restore confidence in the company within 100 days, a feat chronicled in his co-authored book Tech Phoenix Satyam’s 100-day Turnaround.
Beyond Satyam, Manoharan served as Chairman of Canara Bank, member of the boards of Tech Mahindra and Mahindra & Mahindra, and held key advisory roles with the RBI, SEBI, and other financial organizations. He also chaired accounting and taxation committees for the Confederation of Indian Industry and was honored with numerous awards including the Prestigious Padma Shri in 2010 and the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year in Business (2009).
