The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has informed that the government is considering the extension of the GSTR-3B due date by one day following technical difficulties on the portal. This comes after strong representations from Chartered Accountants and GST filers seeking relief.
The GSTN stated that “GSTN regrets technical difficulties experienced in return filing yesterday. Based on feedback from GSTN, Govt is considering extension of filing date of monthly GSTR 3B (20th April) by one day (21st April).”
The tax associations including Gujarat State Tax Bar Association (GSTBA) and numerous Chartered Accountants informed everyone that the GST portal is not working properly over the last few days and reached the Portal Crash on 20 April 2026. The technical glitch blocked the GSTR-3B filing completely.
Citizens who are trying to meet the deadline have complained about numerous problems, which include:
- Login Problems such as citizens are being kicked out of the website right after they log in.
- The system is failing to save the data for GSTR-3B and retrieve information from the database.
- Professionals have stated that although money has been deducted from the bank accounts, it is not showing in the E-cash ledger.
- There is a delay in sending the One-Time Password [OTP] for verification.
With the deadline extended by one more day, professionals now have additional time to complete their filings. However, the surge in traffic on the portal may lead to technical glitches, which GSTN is expected to address without delay.
