GST Collections Hit ₹1.85 Lakh Crore in June, Up 6.2% YoY

India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for June 2025 stood at Rs. 1.85 lakh crore, marking a 6.2% increase compared to June 2024, according to data from the Ministry of Finance. This steady rise shows the strength of India’s economy and improvements in tax compliance.
The GST system includes Central GST (CGST), State GST (SGST), Integrated GST (IGST), and Cess. In June 2025:
- CGST collections were Rs. 34,558 crore, up from Rs. 32,627 crore last year.
- SGST collections were Rs. 43,268 crore, up from Rs. 40,715 crore.
- IGST collections were Rs. 93,280 crore, up from Rs. 87,310 crore.
- Cess collections were Rs. 13,491 crore, up from Rs. 13,160 crore.

This growth is driven by increased domestic demand and higher imports, as collections from imports rose by 11.4% in June. Domestic GST collections rose by 4.6% during the same period.
For the first quarter of the financial year (April to June 2025), gross GST collections reached Rs. 6.22 lakh crore, which is 11.8% higher compared to Rs. 5.56 lakh crore in the same period last year.
Refunds to Support Businesses
Refunds also increased significantly, showing that the government is processing claims faster to support business liquidity. Refunds in June 2025 amounted to Rs. 25,491 crore, up 28.4% from Rs. 19,853 crore in June 2024. Export refunds through ICEGATE rose by 46.4%, helping exporters maintain cash flows.

After accounting for refunds, the net GST revenue for June 2025 was Rs. 1.59 lakh crore, a growth of 3.3% over last year. For April-June 2025, the net revenue reached Rs. 5.43 lakh crore, up 10.7% year-on-year.
State-Wise Performance
Some states saw strong growth in GST collections:
- Nagaland grew by 71%
- Ladakh grew by 22%
- Bihar grew by 12%
A few states like Manipur and Mizoram, saw declines in their GST collections.
The steady growth in GST collections signals healthy economic activity in India, driven by strong domestic consumption and stable compliance levels. Higher collections give the government more room to spend on infrastructure and welfare schemes, supporting broader economic growth in the coming months.
