The Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) Hyderabad Bench has started its work setting the stage for the disposal of cases of GST in the State of Telangana. As per the notice issued by the Tribunal the Registrar Court will start working from April 20, 2026.

The Bench currently functioning from its interim location at GST Bhavan, Basheerbagh Hyderabad shall be competent to hear cases pertaining to the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 Integrated Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the TelanganaGoods and Services Tax Act, 2017 for the State of Telangana.

In view of the growing instances of defective appeals being made the Tribunal has developed the process of Registrar Court hearings. As per the notice it is mentioned that certain appeals are having fundamental problems especially regarding court fees, documents and procedural flaws, requiring evaluation on a priority basis.

According to Rule 24 of the Procedure Rules of GSTAT the defect should be sorted out in seven days after issuing a notice. The Registrar may extend that period not exceeding 30 days depending on the reason provided.

Furthermore, the tribunal has instituted a mechanism for listing these types of cases. The listing of cases will be made on a daily basis with prior notice through emails until the website becomes functional. The Tribunal has urged all stakeholders and professional bodies to actively monitor case listings and ensure timely compliance with procedural requirements to avoid delays in adjudication.
