The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has issued an important alert asking taxpayers to update their bank account details on the GST portal at the earliest. This step is required under Rule 10A of the GST Rules, which makes it mandatory for most registered taxpayers to furnish their bank account information soon after getting their GST registration.
According to the rule, taxpayers (except those registered under TDS, TCS, or those who received suo-moto registration) must provide their bank account details within 30 days of receiving their GST registration or before filing GSTR-1 or IFF, whichever comes first.

GSTN has announced that new system changes linked to Rule 10A will be implemented soon. Once these changes go live, taxpayers who have not added their bank account details may face suspension of their GST registration, which can disrupt business operations.
To avoid any issues, GSTN has urged all such taxpayers to update their bank details immediately. The details can be added easily on the GST Portal by going to:
- Services → Registration → Amendment of Registration (Non-Core Fields)
Businesses are advised to complete this update as soon as possible to ensure their GST registration remains active and their business activities continue without interruption.
