GSTN launches E-Way Bill 2.0 Portal for Enhanced Inter-Operable Services
To support technological integration, all services will also be available through APIs

The Goods and Services TaxNetwork (GSTN) has announced the upcoming launch of the E-Way Bill 2.0 portal (E-Way Bill), which will go live on July 1, 2025. Developed by the National InformaticsCentre (NIC), this new portal introduces advanced inter-operable services to enhance ease of operations for taxpayers and transporters, especially during technical exigencies.

The primary objective behind the E-Way Bill 2.0 initiative is to ensure business continuity and system redundancy. Responding to growing demands from stakeholders, the portal will enable cross-functional access to crucial E-Way Bill services even in the event of downtime or disruptions on the existing E-Way Bill 1.0 portal (E-Way Bill).
Among the new services introduced are the generation of E-Way Bills based on Part-A details provided by suppliers, consolidated E-Way Bill generation, extension of E-Way Bill validity, transporter detail updates, and retrieval of consolidated E-Way Bills. These augment the existing cross-portal services such as vehicle detail updates and E-Way Bill printing.
A key feature of the rollout is the real-time synchronisation between the two portals. Updates or operations performed on one portal will be mirrored on the other within seconds, allowing users to switch platforms seamlessly. Notably, Part-B details of an E-Way Bill generated on one portal can now be updated from the other, ensuring operational flexibility.
To support technological integration, all services will also be available through APIs, which are already deployed in sandbox environments for testing by software vendors and logistics operators.
This dual-system approach ensures that the functioning of E-Way Bill operations remains uninterrupted even if one portal is temporarily unavailable, GSTN stated in its release.
GSTN and NIC have urged users to acquaint themselves with the new functionalities and integrate the available APIs into their systems. User manuals and helpdesk support are available on both portals to assist in this transition.
