Healing Hands to Financial Expertise: The Extraordinary Journey of a Nurse Who Became a CA at 41
Her unique career path, possibly making her one of the very few individuals in India to hold both the titles of Registered Nurse and Chartered Accountant has made her story inspirational.

In a remarkable example of late-career transformation, 41-year-old Nissy Poulose from Kerala has qualified as a Chartered Accountant ( CA ) after spending more than two decades in the nursing profession.
Hailing from Elavoor near Angamaly in Ernakulam district, Nissy completed her schooling in government-aided institutions before graduating from K.G. College of Nursing, Coimbatore. She later earned an M.Sc. in Nursing (OBG) from Little Flower College of Nursing, Angamaly, and went on to work as a staff nurse in prominent hospitals in Ernakulam.
She subsequently served as a Clinical Instructor and Lecturer in the same institution where she completed her postgraduate studies. She also briefly worked as a trainer at a noted coaching centre in Ernakulam.

Her transition into finance began unexpectedly through her association with the Aluva Chartered Accountants Association, which she attended alongside her husband, CA Vibin Vincent, a practising Chartered Accountant.
The Interactions with professionals, particularly women CAs, sparked her interest in the field. Encouraged by her husband and supported by her brother also a CA Nissy decided to pursue the Chartered Accountancy course, enrolling at the age of 37.
Balancing academics with family responsibilities, Nissy pursued the rigorous CA curriculum while raising two children, now in Classes 12 and 10. She studied during early mornings and late nights, completing her articleship at M/s SVAR & Associates, Chartered Accountants, Aluva, under CA Harikrishnan K.V. Her commitment and performance earned the appreciation of her mentors and colleagues.

After four and a half years of sustained effort, she cleared all levels of the CA examinations, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant at age 41. The milestone coincides with the silver jubilee of her nursing career, adding further distinction to her achievement.
Nissy currently works in IBC support services with M/s SVAR & Associates in Delhi and also teaches Taxation to CA Intermediate students at a reputed coaching centre in Angamaly. Those close to her say she applies the same precision and care in financial matters that once defined her work as a nurse.
