ICAI Notifies Chartered Accountants (First Amendment) Regulations, 2025: Key Changes Inside
Before adopting the regulations, the Council will give careful consideration to any ideas or complaints received within the allotted period.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) has notified the Chartered Accountants (First Amendment) Regulations, 2025, proposing specific changes to the existing Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988 under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949.
The draft regulations propose two targeted changes to Regulation 204 of the 1988 Regulations.
Firstly, the word “and” occurring after International Taxation will be omitted. Secondly, the words “and Forensic Investigation” shall be inserted after Management and Business Finance.

The notification reads as follows:
“In the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, -
In Regulation 204,
- (i) After the words, “International Taxation”, the word “and” shall be omitted.
- (ii) After the words, Management and Business Finance, the words, “and Forensic Investigation” shall be inserted.”
As per the notification published in the Gazette of India, the Council of ICAI has released the draft amendment for public information and invited comments, objections, and suggestions from all stakeholders likely to be affected.
Any person interested in submitting objections or suggestions may do so within thirty days from the date on which the Gazette copies are made available to the public, addressed to the Secretary, ICAI, at ICAI Bhawan, Indraprastha Marg, New Delhi.
The date of the final publication of the amended regulations in the Official Gazette will serve as their effective date. Before adopting the regulations, the Council will give careful consideration to any ideas or complaints received within the allotted period.
