ICMAI Provides 3rd Extension for CoP Holders to Complete Mandatory CPE Credit Hours for Year 2025-26 [Read Order]
ICMAI has clarified that failure to complete the requisite CPE Credit Hours within the extended period will result in discontinuation of the Certificate of Practice

The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) has granted a third extension to Certificate of Practice (CoP) holders for completing their mandatory Continuous Professional Education (CPE) Credit Hours for the year 2025–26, effectively giving members additional time to meet their statutory obligations for their professional development.
The announcement was made through Circular (Ref. No. G/128/09/2025), dated 30 September 2025 ICMAI notifying that CoP holders who have not yet completed their required CPE Credit Hours for the compliance period 2024–25 are permitted to complete them alongside the 2025–26 requirements, within the deadline extended up to 31 March 2026.

This is the third extension granted by the ICMAI to practicing members for compliance with CPE requirements. Earlier, extensions were allowed first up to 30 June 2025, which were altered and extended up to 30 September 2025.
Noting that certain Certificate of Practice holders had still not complied with the mandatory CPE hours requirements despite the extensions, the ICMAI has provided additional time in view of requests received from members seeking relaxation to fulfil the mandatory educational credit hours prescribed for renewal and continuation of Certificate of Practice.
The circular reiterated that Continuous Professional Education is an integral part of maintaining professional competence and ethical standards among practicing cost accountants. The ICMAI has reiterated that adherence to the prescribed CPE norms as notified by the Institute’s Directorate of Advanced Studies is a mandatory prerequisite for holding a CoP.
ICMAI has clarified that failure to complete the requisite CPE Credit Hours within the extended period will result in discontinuation of the Certificate of Practice, in accordance with the applicable guidelines of the Council. Members are therefore urged to take advantage of the extended window and ensure compliance within the stipulated timeline.
The circular was undersigned by CMA (Dr.) Debaprosanna Nandy Secretary (Officiating) of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
