Income Tax Department raids Meerut CA's Office and Residence

On Monday, July 14, 2025, the Income Tax Department conducted extensive raids at the residence and office of Chartered Accountant Nikhil Gupta, along with his brother, Company Secretary Priyam Gupta, and Priyam’s wife, CA Yashika Gupta, in the Delhi Chungi area of Meerut.
According to reports, teams from Meerut, Noida, and Ghaziabad arrived at the premises around 6 AM in a convoy of eight vehicles. The raids involved a thorough examination of financial documents, computers, laptops, and other digital data. Officials indicated that the action was prompted by allegations of fraudulent income taxreturns involving fake deductions for medical expenses, school fees, and political donations.

The Income Tax Department suspects that fabricated documents were used to help clients claim illegitimate tax exemptions.

During the search, one room was reportedly locked and thoroughly examined. Officials also questioned staff members as part of the investigation. The investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the findings, reported Jurishour.
The raids have sparked controversy, with members of the Chartered Accountants Association expressing concerns over the manner of the operation. They have alleged harassment and demanded a review of the procedures followed during the raids.
