MCA to Extend Deadline for Annual Filings? Unofficial Circular Circulates Among CS Groups
An unconfirmed MCA circular circulating among company secretaries suggests an extension of the annual filing deadline without additional fees till December 31, 2025.

An unconfirmed circular purportedly issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) is making rounds among company secretaries and compliance professionals groups, suggesting that the Ministry may extend the deadline for filing Financial Statements and Annual Returns for FY 2024-25 till December 31, 2025, without payment of additional fees.
The image, titled General Circular No. 06/2025 dated October 17, 2025, reportedly states that the extension is being considered in view of the deployment of revised e-Forms: MGT-7, MGT-7A, AOC-4, AOC-4 CFS, AOC-4 NBFC (Ind AS), AOC-4 CFS NBFC (Ind AS), and AOC-4 (XBRL) on the MCA-21 Version 3 portal.
The circular also clarifies that this relaxation does not extend the statutory deadline for holding Annual General Meetings (AGMs) under the Companies Act, 2013. Companies missing the AGM deadline would still be subject to action under the law.
As per the contents of the circulated circular, filings made after December 31, 2025, will attract normal and additional fees under the Companies (Registration Offices and Fees) Rules, 2014.
The document appears to be signed by Amit Kumar, Deputy Director (Policy), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, but as of now, no official confirmation or upload of the circular has appeared on the MCA website. Professionals across corporate circles are awaiting formal verification or an official announcement from the Ministry.
