The latest initiative aims to strengthen the authority's institutional and analytical capacity by leveraging the administrative experience and subject-matter expertise of seasoned public officers.

The NFRA, a body constituted under Section 132 of the Companies Act, 2013, serves as India’s independent regulator for accounting and auditing. It oversees the quality of audit services, enforces compliance with accounting and auditing standards and monitors professional misconduct among auditors of public interest entities. The Authority plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting and promoting transparency and accountability within India’s corporate governance framework.

At present, the NFRA seeks to onboard individuals with extensive administrative experience, particularly retired Principal Secretaries and equivalent-level officers, who have worked in areas such as finance, public administration, corporate regulation or governance. Selected consultants will assist NFRA through advisory, review and technical support functions, contributing to its committees and help evaluate complex accounting and audit issues.

The circular is accompanied by annexures that outline the eligibility conditions, scope of work, remuneration structure and application format. Interested applicants are required to submit their applications in the prescribed format along with supporting documents and self-declarations as specified in the annexures.

Eligible retired officers may submit scanned copies of their filled-in applications along with self-attested supporting documents via email to manageradmn@nfra.gov.in on or before October 31, 2025.

The initiative reflects NFRA’s continued effort to build a capable and dynamic institutional framework that upholds the highest standards of accountability, governance, and financial transparency in India’s audit and accounting ecosystem.
