On September 1, 2025, the Rajasthan Tax Consultant’s Association (RTCA), Jaipur, has urged the Union Finance Minister and the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) to extend the due date for filing Tax Audit Reports (TAR) and Income Tax Returns (ITR) for assessees under audit until 15 November 2025.

In its representation, the Association, which was established in 1976 and represents nearly 1,800 tax professionals across Rajasthan, explained that taxpayers and consultants are facing serious difficulties in meeting the current deadlines of 30 September 2025 for TAR and 31 October 2025 for ITR.

The RTCA submitted that the delay in releasing the required forms, including ITR-1 to ITR-7 and the audit forms 3CA, 3CB, and 3CD, has left very little time for preparation. Some forms were still awaited, making it nearly impossible to complete the audit process on time.

The Association also observed that the technical glitches in the income tax e-filing portal have further slowed down the process, creating additional hurdles for taxpayers and professionals.

The Association further explained that the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) recently introduced a new format for reporting financial statements of non-corporate entities. This change requires huge additional effort from professionals, who need time to adapt and ensure accurate reporting.

The festive season, beginning with Dussehra in October and continuing until Diwali in November, was also highlighted as a challenge. The RTCA pointed out that during this period, business owners are largely engaged in commercial activities which makes it difficult to focus on preparing and filing audit reports.

Explaining these issues, the Association requested the government to extend the due date for TAR and ITR (for audit cases) to 15 November 2025. It urged the authorities to consider the matter urgently to provide relief to taxpayers and professionals and to enable timely and accurate compliance with the law
