TheReserve Bank of India (RBI) has notified the Foreign Exchange Management (Export of Goods and Services) (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2025, modifying key provisions to provide exporters with an extended timeframe to realise and repatriate export proceeds.

Under the revised framework, the period for realisation of export proceeds has been extended from nine months to fifteen months from the date of export. The changes are applicable to both goods and services, and aligns regulatory timelines with current global trade realities and provides flexibility to exporters dealing with extended payment cycles.

The extended window is slated to facilitate smoother cross-border trade settlements and support Indian exporters in mitigating delays caused by global logistical and payment disruptions.

In addition to the extended realisation period, Regulation 15 of the principal rules has also been amended to enhance the validity of export declarations and related provisions from one year to three years. This revision is expected to ease procedural burdens and reduce compliance pressure on exporters.
