The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has released a detailed notification outlining the eligibility requirements and application procedures for students planning to appear for the Foundation and Intermediate Examinations scheduled in September 2025. The announcement emphasizes the need for candidates to verify their status and update necessary information through ICAI’s Self Service Portal (SSP) to ensure smooth form submission.

According to the official notification, all aspiring examinees are required to have valid login credentials for the Self Service Portal, accessible via eServices ICAI.

A key eligibility condition is valid course registration. ICAI has mandated that students must ensure their course code aligns with the new format: Foundation candidates should see codes NEWFND23 or CONFND23 on their dashboard, while Intermediate candidates must reflect NEWINT23 or CONINT23. Those seeing older codes must apply for a course conversion, which can be done free of charge via the SSP.

For the Foundation examination, students must have registered in the course by May 1, 2025. Additionally, candidates must either have appeared in the 12th standard board examination or passed it. In either case, the respective admit card or marksheet must be uploaded to SSP. Those who transitioned from the earlier CPT (Common Proficiency Test) must also complete their conversion to the Foundation course before submitting the exam application.

Intermediate exam aspirants must meet the eight-month study period requirement by September 1, 2025. This means they must have been registered on or before January 1, 2025. Furthermore, candidates should be enrolled for the specific group(s) they intend to appear for, and are encouraged to verify this within their SSP profile.

Photograph and signature standards have also been strictly specified. Photographs must display a relaxed, straight face without masks, caps, or goggles (though religious headwear is permitted). The image should cover 80% of the face and be taken against a white background, with file sizes between 20 to 50 KB in JPG/JPEG format. Signatures must be done in black ink on white paper, clearly scanned, cropped, and uploaded as JPG/JPEG files within the 10 to 20 KB size range.

For technical issues or specific exam form-related queries, ICAI has set up dedicated email support: foundation_examhelpline@icai.in for Foundation

and

intermediate_examhelpline@icai.in for Intermediate exams.

General SSP-related problems can be resolved by raising a ticket on the portal or contacting hossp@icai.in and ssp.helpdesk@icai.in.

The announcement serves as a crucial advisory for CA aspirants, reinforcing the importance of early compliance with formalities to avoid last-minute complications. As the September 2025 examination cycle nears, ICAI urges all candidates to review their profiles thoroughly and take immediate action on required updates.
