Union Budget 2026: FM says Budget focus on 3 ‘Kartavyas’
The Minister has said that the budget is inspired by 3 Karvtavyas.

The Union Budget for the Financial Year 2026-27 was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha today (Sunday, 1 February 2026). This is her 9th consecutive budget.
The Minister has said that the budget is inspired by 3 Karvtavyas. The first Kartavy, is to accelerate economic growth by enhancing productivity and competitiveness and building resilience to volatile global dynamics.
The second Kartavy is to fulfil aspirations of the people and build their capacity making them strong partners in India’s Part 2 prosperity.
The third is aligned with the vision of Sabka saath Sabka vikas, is to ensure every family, community and region and sector has access to resources, amenities and opportunities for meaningful participation.
The FM said that this ‘3 fold approach requires a supportive ecosystem’.
The first requirement is to sustain momentum of structural reforms, continuous adoption and forward looking. Secondly, a robust and resilient financial sector is central to mobilising savings allocating capital efficiency and managing risks, said the minister.
Third, cutting edge technologies including AI applications can serve us as force multipliers for better governance, said the minister.
