A video that has gone viral on social media claims that Former Reserve Bank ofIndia ( RBI ) Governor Shaktikanta Das has approved a scheme that offers huge returns, an alleged ₹1 million monthly return on an investment of just ₹21,000.

It is undeniable that such enormous profits with only Rs. 21,000 are impossible when we use common sense. The video, which claims to show Das endorsing the scheme, has generated interest and concern among people who have been tempted by the idea of instant wealth.

However, the video has been identified as entirely fraudulent and digitally altered by the Press Information Bureau's (PIB) Fact Check team. According to PIB Fact Check's official statement, neither Shaktikanta Das nor the Indian government have approved of any such c platform or plan.

“The video has been digitally altered. There is no such official endorsement. Citizens should be cautious and not fall for such fraudulent claims,” PIB Fact Check stated.

The public has been cautioned to be on the alert for frauds that utilize popular government officials' pictures and videos in order to appear to be genuine and trustworthy. As AI-generated videos and deepfake technology develop, fake endorsements have become a more serious risk to inexperienced investors.

PIB has advised citizens:

  1. Do not trust viral videos promising unrealistic returns
  2. Report such scams immediately to PIB Fact Check or cybercrime authorities.
  3. Always verify any investment-related claim through official government channels and trusted financial advisors.
