Vodafone Idea Receives ₹12.73 Lakh GST Penalty Order for ITC Dispute

Vodafone Idea Limited received an order imposing a penalty of over ₹12.72 lakh from tax authorities over an alleged contravention related to Input Tax Credit (ITC). The telecom operator disagrees with the order and has indicated it will take appropriate action for rectification or reversal.
The order, passed under Section 74 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, confirmed a penalty of ₹12,72,899. This is in addition to the demand and interest that will be applicable.
