The Uttar Pradesh revenue department has recorded an impressive hike in consumer spending trends. The revenue had surpassed the national average with a 15% growth in Goods and Services Tax ( GST )  until November. The growth surpassed the national average of 13%.

As per the report, the principal secretary of state tax, M Devaraj, stated that  the rise led to increased consumer spending and improvements in tax compliance. The Studies show that people in the U.P. are spending on goods and services on par with, or even more than, those in wealthier states.

An increase in economic activity leads to higher consumption of goods and services which boost the  GST collections. The stricter enforcement, digitization, and penalties for evasion keep the filing of returns in track and increase GST payment.
