In view of COVID 19 pandemic and Amphan, the state government has extended the term of its tax dispute settlement scheme by two months- from June 30 to September 30, 2020. In view of COVID 19 pandemic and Amphan, the state government has extended the term of its tax dispute settlement scheme by two months- from June 30 to September 30, 2020. Initially, the scheme was extended to June 30 from March 31.

According to a circular issued on June 24 only 25% of the disputed tax in case of VAT and sales tax has to be paid for one-time settlement and far as the penalty is concerned, only 10% has to be paid.

For entry tax, there will be a complete waiver of penalty. Even before the GST rollout in July 2017, the state had come out with a dispute settlement scheme for entry tax. The scheme had mopped up 950 crores.
