Zydus Wellness Products Limited, a leading player in the health and wellness industry, has received a Show Cause Notice ( SCN ) from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence ( DGGI ), Surat Zonal Unit, regarding an alleged GST demand of Rs. 56.33 crores, including interest and penalties. According to ET, the company intends to challenge the notice, claiming a strong legal position in the matter.

In a regulatory filing, Zydus Wellness clarified that the issue pertains to a pre-acquisition period before January 30, 2019, before it took over the business. As a result, the liability is expected to be fully indemnified by Heinz Italia S.P.A., the former owner. The company explained that it carefully reviews the notice and evaluates the next steps.
Despite the ongoing tax dispute, ZWPL has assured stakeholders that its financial stability and operational activities remain unaffected. The company is actively evaluating its legal and financial options to address the demand while protecting its interests.
