The Anti-Corruption Bureau ( ACB ) apprehended a state official who was caught accepting a bribe of ₹3,000 in exchange for the issuance of a Goods and Services Tax ( GST ) number.

A First Information Report ( FIR ) has been filed at Yerawada police station against the accused individual, identified as Malti Ramesh Kathale (43), presently stationed at the state GST department office in Yerawada.

Responding to a complaint, ACB operatives set up a sting operation and apprehended the officer in the act of taking the bribe.

Following this, charges have been pressed against Kathale under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
