The Directorate Generalof Foreign Trade (DGFT) has made a move to encourage India’s export flexibility by announcing the removal of the ₹10 lakh per-consignment value limit for exports made through registered courier services and foreign post offices. The change, notified via Notification No. 67/2025-26 dated 27 March 2026, will come into effect from April 1, 2026.

The amendment modifies Paragraph 9.05 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, which previously capped the value of goods exported via courier at ₹10,00,000 per consignment. With the revised policy, exporters can now send shipments of any value through courier or post, subject to existing export regulations under the Customs Act, 1962 and the ITC(HS) classification.

The notification states: “There shall be no value limit prescribed per consignment for exports through courier service.” This change is expected to benefit exporters dealing in high-value goods, including electronics, pharmaceuticals, and luxury items, who previously had to split shipments or use alternate channels to comply with the value ceiling.

The amendment was issued under the powers conferred by Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, and aligns with Paragraphs 1.02 and 2.01 of FTP 2023. It reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to simplify export procedures and enhance ease of doing business for Indian exporters.

The DGFT clarified that while the value limit has been removed, the exportability of items will continue to be governed by the FTP and Export Policy in ITC(HS), ensuring that regulatory safeguards remain intact.
