The Directorate General of Foreign Trade ( DGFT ) has extended the availability of the ‘Source from India’ feature on the Trade Connect ePlatform (www.trade.gov.in) to all Status Holder exporters.

The Minister of Commerce and Industry launched the Trade Connect portal, which links important parties like the Department of Commerce, Export Promotion Councils, EXIM Bank, Indian Missions Abroad, and DGFT. It functions as a single digital hub for information and services related to international trade.

One of the main features of the Trade Connect website is "Source from India," which is intended to serve as a one-stop resource for international buyers looking to get in touch with reliable Indian exporters.

With the use of this tool, exporters can make their own "micropages" that highlight their product line, credentials, and other pertinent data. Following approval, these micropages are made publicly available on the Trade Connect website's Source from India section, increasing their visibility and legitimacy with foreign customers.

The feature was first made available to a limited number of Manufacturer Exporters with three, four, and five stars as part of a pilot program. DGFT has now offered the service to all Status Holder exporters with valid Importer Exporter Codes (IECs) that are not on the Denied Entity List (DEL), marking a major step towards inclusion and outreach. Additionally, the DGFT stated that notices will be sent out when this service is gradually extended to other IEC holders.

Indian Missions Abroad have been directed to actively use the Source from India portal while helping international buyers find reliable Indian suppliers in an effort to further reinforce India's export promotion efforts.

It is also recommended that industry associations and Export Promotion Councils inform their members about this update and urge all qualified exporters to sign up. To make onboarding easier, a detailed registration guide has been supplied.
