Govt Releases List of 31 Appointed Technical Members to GSTAT [Read Order]
The government has released the list of 31 appointed Technical Members to the GST Appellate Tribunal, a big step toward making the tribunal fully functional.

The Government of India has officially released the list of 31 appointed Technical Members to the Goods and ServicesTax Appellate Tribunal ( GSTAT ). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, which is chaired by the Prime Minister, approved these appointments on the recommendation of the Department of Revenue.
The list includes a mix of retired IndianRevenue Service (IRS) officers and other experienced officials who have worked in the field of indirect taxation.
Out of the 31 appointments, two are for the Principal Bench of the GSTAT located in New Delhi. One is a Technical Member representing the State, and the other represents the Centre.
Shri A. Venu Prasad, a retired IAS officer, has been appointed as the Technical Member for the State. Shri Anil Kumar Gupta, a retired IRS officer from the Customs and Indirect Taxes wing, has been appointed as the Technical Member for the Centre.
The remaining 29 members will serve in various State Benches of the tribunal across the country. These members also belong mostly to the IRS cadre and have held important positions in the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, as well as other key roles in the tax administration system.
Each member will serve a term of four years or until they reach the age of 67, whichever comes earlier. Their monthly salary has been fixed at two lakh twenty-five thousand rupees.
