The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), through its Auditing andAssurance Standards Board (AASB), has released the 2026 edition of the Guidance Note on Audit of Banks.
The latest audit report on the bank provides a comprehensive review of its financial health, regulatory compliance, and risk management practices. The audit examined key areas such as loan portfolios, deposit management, capital adequacy, and adherence to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines.
The 2026 bank audit report confirms that the institution has largely complied with statutory and regulatory requirements, including capital adequacy norms and reporting standards. While its overall risk management systems remain robust, auditors flagged concerns over rising Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) and advised closer monitoring of loan recoveries.

The revised note is structured into two parts:
- Section A: Core chapters covering audit principles, compliance checks, and risk assessment.
- Section B: Specialized chapters addressing complex areas such as Non-Performing Assets (NPAs), capital adequacy, and digital banking oversight.
The 2026 update places special emphasis on strengthening risk management frameworks and improving the clarity in reporting standards. Also, it addresses challenges of digital transformation and cybersecurity in banking.
This audit is not just a compliance exercise, it reassures stakeholders about the bank’s stability while spotlighting areas needing attention.
Former ICAI President praised the efforts of CA (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Singhal (Chairman), CA Vishal Doshi (Vice-Chairman), and the AASB members for their role in bringing out this comprehensive resourceSupport our journalism by subscribing to Taxscan premium.
