India’s net GST revenue grew 7.1% till October FY26 to ₹1.69 lakh crore, with Nagaland leading all states with a 46% rise in collections.

India’s Goods and Services Tax ( GST ) collections continued to grow steadily, with net GST revenue rising 7.1% in the current financial year ( FY 2025-26 ) up to October 2025. The total net GST revenue stood at Rs. 1.69 lakh crore in October 2025, compared to Rs. 1.68 lakh crore in the same month last year.
The report showed that gross GST collections for October 2025 were Rs. 1.96 lakh crore, marking a 4.6% increase over October 2024. So far this financial year, the total gross GST revenue has reached Rs. 13.89 lakh crore, showing a healthy 9% growth compared to the same period last year.
Breaking down the numbers, domestic GST revenue (from within India) showed a 7.8% increase, while import-related GST collections rose 12.9%, reflecting stronger import activity and steady consumption. Refunds issued to taxpayers also increased by 39.6%, amounting to Rs. 26,934 crore in October 2025, affecting the overall net revenue growth.

Among states, Maharashtra continued to be the top contributor with Rs. 32,025 crore in GST collections for October 2025, followed by Karnataka (Rs. 14,395 crore) and Gujarat (Rs. 12,113 crore). These three states together accounted for a major share of the total revenue. Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh also reported solid collections.
Interestingly, smaller states from the Northeast showed exceptional growth. Nagaland recorded the highest year-on-year growth of 46%, followed closely by Arunachal Pradesh (44%) and Ladakh (39%).
These figures indicate stronger compliance, digital integration, and expansion of business activity in these regions. On the other hand, some states such as Himachal Pradesh (-17%), Uttarakhand (-13%), and Andhra Pradesh (-9%) witnessed a decline in collections.
