Washerman Gets ₹598 Crore Income Tax Notice for Diamond Deals
A washerman from Ajmer has received a ₹598 crore Income Tax notice linked to diamond deals.

A washerman from Ajmer has received an unbelievable Income Tax notice for diamond transactions worth ₹598 crore. Jitendra Kumar, who earns his living washing and ironing clothes in the Ramganj area, says he has nothing to do with any diamond business and believes his identity has been misused.
The Income Tax Department found huge money transfers linked to diamond trading in a bank account under Kumar’s name. Officials sent him a notice asking him to explain the transactions. Kumar was shocked and said he lost his PAN card two years ago during a function in Pali. He suspects someone used it to open the account.

According to the news report Kumar’s lawyer, Rakesh Thada, said they have filed a police complaint against the private bank and the unknown person operating the account. The FIR was registered at Ganj police station. Thada believes the account may have been used by a businessman from Pali for a Surat‑based diamond firm.
The police are now investigating how the washerman’s name got linked to such a huge amount. Kumar says he has been visiting police stations and lawyers instead of working, and his family is suffering.
For the past few days, Jitendra Kumar has been running between police stations and lawyers instead of earning his daily wages, leaving his family in distress.

This case shows how easily ordinary people’s identities can be misused for big financial dealings. Experts say such frauds often happen in trades like diamonds, where black money and fake accounts are common. The Income Tax Department is expected to trace the real people behind the ₹598 crore transactions.
