The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has notified the fixation of three new Standard Input Output Norms (SIONs) under the “Chemical and Allied Products” group, bearing product code ‘A’.
The notification has been promulgated in accordance with paragraph 1.03 of the Foreign Trade Policy 2023 and has been published through Public Notice No. 16/2025-26 dated 29th July 2025.
The three new SIONs have been serially numbered A-3690, A-3691 and A-3692.
According to the notification, SION A-3690 pertains to the export of Betamethasone Valerate EP/BP/USP, a potent corticosteroid widely used in dermatological preparations for treating skin inflammation, eczema and psoriasis. Under this norm, for every 1 kg of the export product, an input quantity of 0.915 kg of Betamethasone is permitted for import duty-free under the Advance Authorization Scheme.

SION A-3691 addresses the export of Ferrous Fumarate USP/BP/FCC/IP, a vital iron supplement commonly used in pharmaceutical formulations for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia. The corresponding input item notified for duty-free import is Fumaric Acid 99%, with an allowable quantity of 0.725 kg per 1 kg of the export product.
SION A-3692 also pertains to Ferrous Fumarate USP/BP/FCC/IP, but under this classification, the input item approved for import is Maleic Anhydride which is a key industrial chemical and a precursor used in the synthesis of fumaric acid. The permissible input quantity is 0.65 kg per 1 kg of the exported product.
These newly fixed SIONs provide a structured framework for exporters within the pharmaceutical and chemical arena, allowing them to claim duty exemptions on essential input materials used in the manufacture of export-grade goods.
The notification has been signed by the Director General of Foreign Trade and Ex-Officio Additional Secretary to the Government of India, and shall come into immediate effect as per the Gazette publication.
