The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has reinstated and amended the Standard Input Output Norms (SION) C-676 for the export of “Hot Dipped Galvanised Tension Bar / Gate Rods / Truss Rods / Drop Rods”.
The Public Notice No. 27/2025-26 dated 22 October 2025 effectively restores the previously suspended SION and prescribes precise input-output and wastage norms applicable for export authorisations and related duty entitlement schemes.

For every 1,000 kilograms of the export product, the amended SION permits use of non-alloy MS billets/blooms at 1.05 kg per kg of the net ungalvanised export product, steel wire rods at 1.03 kg per kg of the net ungalvanised export product and zinc of 99.99% purity at 0.03 kg per kg of the steel content in the export product.

In addition, usable scrap of ungalvanised tension bar/gate rod/truss rod/drop rod is allowed as input up to the wastage norm specified (reflected in the SION as a rollable-weight allowance).
MS billets and blooms serve as the core semi-finished steel material that is rolled or shaped into tension bars and rods, and forms the structural base of the export products.
Steel wire rods act as an alternate feedstock and are often used in drawing and rolling operations to achieve precise dimensions and strength.
Zinc of 99.99% purity functions as a critical coating material in the hot-dip galvanising process, ensuring corrosion resistance and durability of the finished rods.

Collectively, these input-output ratios establish the technical framework exporters must adhere to while claiming input entitlements and securing export authorisations under the Foreign Trade Policy.
The effects of the Public Notice shall take effect immediately. The notification was issued by Ajay Bhadoo, Director General of Foreign Trade, who is also Ex-officio Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
