DGFT Suspends SION of various Food and Related Products: Allows Advance Authorization Benefits for Exporters [Read Notice]

DGFT suspends multiple food SIONs with immediate effect; exporters can seek Advance Authorisation benefits per FTP 2023

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has issued Public Notice No. 20/2025-26 dated 26.08.2025. The DGFT has suspended the Standard Input Output Norms (SION) of various food and related products.

The notice shall be effective immediately and all the SIONs that have been attached to it shall stand suspended immediately.

Entities exporting products covered by the suspended SIONs may apply for benefits under the Advance Authorisation scheme in terms of Para 4.03(b)(i) or 4.03(b)(iii) or Para 4.03(b)(iv), as applicable.

Following are the SIONs suspended (food and related products) as under Annexure A to the notice:

  1. E1 – Assorted Confectionery
  1. E4 – Baked Biscuits filled in Tin container made out of tin sheet
  1. E5 – Casein (Edible Grade) / Caseinates
  1. E38 – Rice / Wheat / Chicken Biryani / Vegetable Biryani / Vegetable Pulao / Zeera Rice / Jawar / Bajra
  1. E46 – Tea Bags containing Tea, Filter Paper, Mylar String and Polycoated Tag
  1. B1 – Maize Starch Powder
  1. E76 – Liquid Glucose
  1. E77 – Dextrose Monohydrate
  1. E100 – Modified Starch
  1. E101 – Corn Gluten
  1. E102 – Sorbitol
  1. B1 – Refined Mustard Oil (Edible Grade)
  1. E132 – Namkeens / Mixtures / Savouries
  1. E133 – Malted Milk Food

These SIONs, read together, cover a wide spectrum of food and allied items that are used in the production and preparation of food items.

Effect of the Notice

By virtue of Public Notice No. 20/2025-26, the suspended SIONs in Annexure “A” cease to be operative with immediate effect. Exporters of the listed products have been advised to apply for the benefits of the Advance Authorisation under the specific Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) provisions, enabling them to avail the benefits of the input duty exemption pathways during the period of suspension.

The Public Notice is signed by the Director General of Foreign Trade (Ex-officio Additional Secretary to Government of India).
