GST Portal
The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) portal has been completely down for most of the day. This is a huge problem because thousands of businesses across India use it to file their monthly tax papers, specifically GSTR-1 forms.
Tax Professionals complaint that Portal which was managed by IT giant Infosys, has been characterized by consistent failure messages. Users attempting to log in or upload invoice data are commonly encountering "Gateway Timeout 504" errors, Persistent "Service Unavailable" messages or Session timeouts immediately following successful login attempts.
The outage is causing thousands of man-hours to be wasted as tax practitioners repeatedly attempt to access the system. Social media platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter), have been flooded with complaints targeting both the GST Helpdesk and the technical operator Infosys, demanding an immediate restoration of services.

Taxpayers complain for persistent portal disruption especially in X (formerly Twitter) by tagging Infosys and GST helpdesk. Industry bodies have highlighted that these repeated system failures place a disproportionate burden on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which often lack the resources to handle last-minute compliance rushes caused by technical instability.
The potential accrual of late fees and penalties due to system failure, rather than taxpayer fault, has generated significant anxiety.
Despite these complaints on the social media platforms, there was no official update on restoration of services either by Infosys or GSTN. These factors add more anxiety to the taxpayers for compliance.
Taxpayers urge to issue a formal statement clarifying the cause of disruption of the GSTN portal and also demand to take necessary steps for its timely restoration. This situation shows that the GST website, which handles a lot of India's money, needs to be much stronger and more reliable.
