India Imposes Five-Year ADD on Linear Alkyl Benzene Imports from Iran and Qatar
India imposes anti-dumping duty on Linear Alkyl Benzene imports from Iran and Qatar for five years to protect domestic industry.
The Ministry of Finance, Government of India, issued Notification No. 18/2025-Customs (ADD) dated June 23, 2025, announcing the imposition of anti-dumping duties on imports of Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) originating from or exported by Iran and Qatar. The decision aims to safeguard India’s domestic industry from the adverse effects of unfair pricing practices.
The notification follows the final findings of the Designated Authority, which concluded that LAB imports were being dumped into the Indian market at prices lower than their normal value. This, it said, had caused material injury to domestic manufacturers by undercutting local prices and impacting industry margins.

Based on the investigation, anti-dumping duties have been levied for a period of five years, unless revoked or modified earlier. The duties vary based on the country of origin, the exporting country, and the specific producer involved.

The anti-dumping duties are payable in Indian currency, with the applicable exchange rate determined as per notifications issued under Section 14 of theCustoms Act, 1962.

The product in question, Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB), is commonly used in the manufacturing of detergents and cleaning products. According to the notification, the duty is applicable specifically to mixed alkyl benzenes, and excludes mixed alkyl naphthalenes.
