The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has reported that, within the period from December 2022 to July 2023, it successfully addressed over 46,000 public complaints and resolved 7,000 appeals as part of Special Campaign 2.0 for Swachhata.

The Indian government initiated Special Campaign 2.0 for Cleanliness in government offices and the clearance of pending matters from October 2, 2022, to October 31, 2022. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and its subordinate offices in the Income Tax Department actively engaged in this Special Campaign 2.0.

In order to maintain the momentum of Special Campaign 2.0, CBDT has decided to sustain the constructive actions undertaken for addressing public complaints during the campaign. As a continuation of these efforts, the Department successfully addressed over 46,000 public grievances on the CPGRAMS portal and resolved approximately 7,000 grievance appeals from December 2022 to July 2023.

During Special Campaign 2.0, a fresh initiative called “HARIT Aaykar” (Green Tax) was introduced by Shri Nitin Gupta, the Chairman of CBDT, on October 31, 2022. This initiative’s goal is to enhance greenery, and it was inaugurated with the planting of trees and the opening of “Aaykar Aranya,” a series of small forests, near the Attari region along the India-Pakistan border.

Shri Nitin Gupta, the CBDT Chairman encouraged the Department’s officers and staff to actively contribute to the HARIT Aaykar’s objectives, which involve increasing green spaces and establishing micro-forests in and around Income Tax Department facilities and public areas.

In line with the HARIT Aaykar initiative, a total of 103 miniature forests were established from December 2022 to July 2023, spanning various locations in India, and collectively covering an area exceeding 1.5 lakh square feet.

The Department’s activities in this regard were showcased through its official social media channels, with an average of approximately four tweets per month featuring the hashtag #HARIT Aaykar. The Special Campaign 3.0 will commence on 2nd October 2023.
