The Finance Ministry has amended the 14 customs notifications to align with the budget 2024 amendments. The amendment shall come into force on 1st October 2024.
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962, the Central Government has directed amendments to various notifications issued by the Ministry of Finance ( Department of Revenue ).
One of the key amendments involves the revision of the terms related to ink cartridges and toners under Notification No. 24/2005-Customs, replacing the words “Ink cartridges” with “cartridges or toners” in both instances where they appear. Similar changes have been made across other notifications, addressing specific serial numbers and entries in the Customs Table to bring consistency and clarity.

For instance, Notification No. 73/2005-Customs now substitutes certain serial entries with new classifications and descriptions. Likewise, other notifications such as Notification No. 57/2009-Customs and Notification No. 151/2009-Customs have been amended to revise and update the product descriptions, tariff entries, and corresponding export/import conditions.
This includes the removal of certain serial numbers and the insertion of new ones, adjusting the classification of goods such as blended turbine fuel and various electronic and industrial components.
