A Goods and Services Tax (GST) Deputy Commissioner allegedly died by suicide on Monday (10 March, 2025), after jumping to his death from the 15th floor of his apartment building in Noida’s Sector 75. The incident is said to have taken place around 11 A.M. in Apex Athena Society, where the deceased, Sanjay Singh, resided with his family reveals reports.
Sanjay Singh, aged 59 years was said to be a senior GST Commissioner operating out of the GST office in Rajendra Nagar, Ghaziabad. Preliminary reports suggest that Singh had been battling prostate cancer and battling depression.

“A police control room (PCR) call alerted us about the incident, and our team immediately rushed to the spot. Singh was taken to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead,” said a senior police officer from Sector 113 police station.
MP Singh, Additional Commissioner of GST in Ghaziabad, confirmed that the deceased had been struggling with his illness for five years and was dealing with intense emotional distress. Singh handled Supreme Court trial cases in his department, adding to his professional stress, sources said.

The body of the deceased has been sent in for postmortem and police are examining the CCTV footage from the complex to rule out any instances of foul-play and to retrieve additional information.
Singh is survived by his wife and two sons. His elder son works in Gurugram, while the younger one is pursuing a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree at Sharda University in Greater Noida.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are questioning residents and reviewing security footage for further details.
