The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) has announced the empanelment of members to act as observers at the upcoming Chartered Accountants Examinations scheduled for May/June 2024. ICAI is seeking eligible members to serve as observers during the Intermediate, Final, and Post-Qualification Course ( PQC ) Exams.
Given the potential clash with the General Election to the 18th Lok Sabha in 2024, the Examination Committee may adjust the May 2024 CA Examination dates accordingly.
In its 648th Meeting on January 8th and 9th, 2024, the Examination Committee decided on a cooling-off period for observership duties, requiring a break of one attempt after three consecutive attempts. This rule is effective from May 2024 with retrospective details.
Eligibility Criteria for Empanelment:
1. Age limit: Not more than 65 years as of February 15, 2024.
2. Membership on the Register as of November 1, 2021, and continuous presence.
3. Not appearing or having relatives appearing in May/June 2024 CA Examinations.
4. Not coaching students for any ICAI examinations.
5. No legal convictions or pending disciplinary proceedings.
6. Not associated with ICAI governing bodies.
7. Compliance with COVID-19 guidelines.
Observers will receive an honorarium of ₹3000 per day/session along with conveyance reimbursement based on city classification. Observers will be responsible for ensuring the secure collection, distribution, and dispatch of examination materials. They must report daily and submit bills promptly.
