The Central Government, vide notification no. 11/2024-Customs G.S.R. 116(E), dated 19th February 2024 has notified the 5% Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess ( AIDC ) exemption to the goods under Tariff Item 5201 00 25 that is for Cotton, Not Carded or Combed with Staple Length over 32.0mm in the category of others.
In accordance with the authority granted by Section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, in conjunction with section 124 of the Finance Act, 2021, the Central Government, upon determining the necessity in the public interest, introduced the subsequent modifications to the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 11/2021 – Customs, issued on the 1st of February, 2021.
In the said notification, in the Table, for serial number 14 and the entries relating thereto, the following S. No. and entries shall be substituted, namely: –

Section 25(1) of Customs Act
If the Central Government is satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, it may, by notification in the Official Gazette, exempt generally either absolutely or subject to such conditions (to be fulfilled before or after clearance) as may be specified in the notification goods of any specified description from the whole or any part of duty of customs leviable thereon.
