The previous export policy, which prohibited the export of Non-Basmati White Rice (including semi-milled or wholly milled rice, whether or not polished or glazed: Other), has now been revised.
The export of this category of rice is now allowed under a “free” export policy, subject to a Minimum Export Price (MEP) of USD 490 per tonne. This amendment is intended to ease export restrictions on Non-Basmati White Rice while ensuring price stability through the MEP mechanism. If the MEP is below the threshold, the export will be prohibited.
This notification takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders. The amendment represents a shift in the country’s export policy for Non-Basmati White Rice, moving from a complete prohibition to conditional freedom, allowing exports provided the set MEP of USD 490 per tonne is adhered to.
