Bar Council Reschedules AIBE-XIX Exam, Extends Registration Until November 15

BCI revised the AIBE-XIX exam schedule and extended registration until November 15, 2024

The Bar Council of India ( BCI ) has officially announced a revised schedule for the All India Bar Examination AIBE-XIX. Originally planned for November 24, 2024, the examination will now be conducted on December 22, 2024, as per the latest notification on 25.10.2024

What Has Changed?

Online Registration initially opened on September 3, 2024, and the window remains open until the new deadline of November 15, 2024, giving candidates additional time to complete their applications.

Online Payment for registration is now extended to November 18, 2024.

Correction Window for registration forms will close on November 22, 2024, allowing candidates to amend any errors in their submissions.

Admit Cards will be available online starting December 15, 2024.

The passing criteria for AIBE-XIX remain unchanged:

  • General/OBC Candidates must secure at least 45%.
  • SC/ST and Disabled Candidates have a passing threshold of 40%.

New Examination Centre Added

As of September 20, 2024, the Bar Council of India has added a new examination center in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh for AIBE-XIX and subsequent exams. Candidates now have the option to select “Vijayawada” as their preferred test city when applying for the All India Bar Examination.

Newly Added Eligibility             

Final-Year Law Students (Without Backlogs): Candidates in their final semester of a 3-year or 5-year LL.B. program at a BCI-recognised University or a BCI-approved College (affiliated with a BCI-recognised University) can register for AIBE. They must have no backlogs from previous semesters to qualify.

Law Graduates Awaiting Degree Conferral: LL.B. graduates (3-year or 5-year courses) from BCI-recognised institutions who have completed their studies but have not yet obtained their degree are eligible to apply for AIBE.

Law Graduates Who Have Not Enrolled or Have Surrendered Their Enrolment Certificates: Graduates with an LL.B. degree from a BCI-recognised University who have not enrolled with any State Bar Council, or who have surrendered their enrolment certificates, are eligible to appear for the examination.

Candidates meeting these criteria can also register for AIBE-XIX. A self-attested undertaking must be submitted during registration.

  5. Evidence Act & Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (New) – 8 questions
  6. Alternative Dispute Redressal, including Arbitration Act – 4 questions
  7. Family Law – 8 questions
  8. Public Interest Litigation – 4 questions
  9. Administration Law – 3 questions
  10. Professional Ethics & Cases of Professional Misconduct under Bar Council of India Rules – 4 questions
  11. Company Law – 2 questions
  12. Environmental Law – 2 questions
  13. Cyber Law – 2 questions
  14. Labour & Industrial Law – 4 questions
  15. Law of Tort, including Motor Vehicle Act and Consumer Protection Law – 5 questions
