RBI directs closure of Payment Systems including RTGS and NEFT on April 1 [Read Circular]

The Reserve Bank of India said that, all the payment systems including RTGS and NEFT to be remain closed on April 1st 2017.

However, there is no change with regard to the payment systems channels, including RTGS and NEFT, being operative as a normal working day during 25 March to 1 April (including Saturday, Sunday and all holidays).

The RBI had earlier directed to remain open on the first day of the next fiscal beginning 1 April. But It is a change from its earlier directive asking banks to remain closed on 1st April.

A separate broadcast message in this regard will be issued through the respective system to the member banks, the RBI circular said.

The RBI also clarified that our instructions issued vide RBI/2016-17/255 DPSS.CO.CHD.No./2656/03.01.03/2016-17 dated March 23, 2017  on conducting Special Clearing operation on March 30 and 31, 2017) remains unchanged.
